These two garments were created to bring awareness to the plastic pollution in the ocean. Around 5 trillion single use plastic bags are used each year and a lot of them end up in the ocean. Plastic bags take years to decompose even though they are only used once. They'll always leave a negative impact on the world. The blue garment was made by melting upcycled fabrics to create the ocean like texture. It represents the beautiful blue surface level of the ocean. It is a shorter dress in comparison to the long plastic dress to represent how the beauty of the ocean is just a small part to what is actually going on inside of it. The plastic dress was made from recycled plastic bags. The black stitching holding all the pieces together symbolize how these plastic particles are bonded together and difficult to naturally break down.
