This garment was sustainably created by combining two articles of clothing that were thrifted. I had a brown wool jacket and a tan corduroy zip-up jacket. My inspiration began with deconstructed blazers, but then shifted to costume design. I was inspired from the clothing in the movies Jumanji, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars. I designed an outfit that I envisioned would be in an action and adventure movie in the desert or jungle.
This design consists of a cropped vest, mid-length skirt, and sleeves. Black tea was used to naturally dye some portions of the corduroy fabric. My main strategy when making this piece was to first deconstruct the seams of the jackets and then drape the materials to what felt natural and right to me.
