This design took inspiration from the “Seasons and Elements (set of four)” from my visit at the Met museum. The French embroidery from 1683 had a lot of iconography referring to the four different seasons. I was mainly inspired by the saturated colors and attention to detail. The garment is separated into 4 parts. The sleeve on the left represents fall, the right sleeve is winter, the top corset is spring, and the skirt is summer. I used fabric that represented each season by the color pallet and material type. The sleeves and straps are all detachable with snaps to add to the multi-functionality of the garment. All the fabric was sustainably sourced from Fab Scrap in Brooklyn and was cut into strips and weaved together.
